As Ian Woodley says - he’s never NOT been self-employed. He’s never worked for anybody else.
It’s this life experience of not knowing the situation of working for a boss and a regular wage that has led Ian to the current point of being the Creative Director of Stilo.
On this episode of ScaleUp Radio, Kevin Brent speaks to Ian Woodley about his own scale up journey.
Even now, 14 years on, the team is still relatively small in terms of people - but far reaching. Ian has learnt from growing too big and made a conscious decision with Stilo to keep things manageable.

- Making sure you know the value of your business, as it continues to grow
- Working to ensure that the whole team is aware - and on board - with the direction that the company is moving in, and how it’s going to get there.

One of the other great takeaways from this conversation is just how much Ian loves being part of a team. Even though he is the Creative Director, and founder, of the company - he considers himself a major part of his team, rather than the person overseeing the team.
